For all Angus people from the Boss.

To all the Angus people on here I was looking for one of my articles when I came across the first issue of Gelbvieh World that I had received and the article that is put in by the American Gelbvieh Association's director was about a new way to market the Gelbvieh breed. Now you’re asking how does that matter to the Angus, but hold on we will eventually get there. In the Article it talked about Volkswagon marketing their car not as just a car, but the driving experience of the Volkswagon and the ownership pride that comes with it. This made a lot of sense to me for when people are told that they will look more sophisticated or cool in a Volkswagon then it makes them want to buy one. It should work the same if people are told that being a Gelbvieh breeder they will be on the cutting edge of the beef industry. This all works on human psyche because when it's told that something will make it look cool or sophisticated it makes people want to do it.Now before you go "well all you’re doing is playing a mind game with people" all this is being backed up by facts. In 2008 Gelbvieh bull producers saw a large increase in the sale of bulls, many of them being bought by Angus producers. The reason Angus people are buying into Gelbvieh is because the Angus breed is starting to become so inbred and stacked in bloodlines it's having genetic disorders and diseases. Diseases like the curly calf disease that causes calves to be born with curled spines and frail bones and most of the time they are still born. So Gelbvieh is clearing the air so to speak. Some producers are going with straight Gelbvieh's so that eventually they can come in with Balancers and even out the mix in the cowherd. So Angus looks like your coming to play with the best, Gelbvieh.
